Easton’s Story

Easton was born several weeks before his due date and has been a fighter ever since. He was a happy and healthy baby and we went home together after a couple days at the hospital. Easton had no signs of a heart defect or problem except every time he got sick, he ended up with Pneumonia.

At 6-months old, during a doctor’s visit for Pneumonia, an x-ray found a shadow by his heart and we were sent to a pediatric cardiologist for further exploration. Easton was then diagnosed with ASD, a birth defect that causes a hole in the wall between the heart’s upper chambers. In his case, Easton has three holes in his heart.

Easton’s is now 3-years old. He goes every 6 to 12 months for an echo to monitor the size of the holes and to check for any changes. Our most recent echo showed he still has the 1 large hole. The hole has a 5% chance of closing on its own. Easton will go for another echo in May. If the hole has not shown any signs of closing at this time we will be looking at open heart surgery before he starts school in August.

We believe in the power of prayer! Through this journey we have learned so much. So many kids are affected by some sort of heart defect. Our goal is to make a change! We will continue to raise awareness and raise money to donate to the CHD foundations.
